My Research

Through my studies, I've gained the skills to lead the development of my own approach through research. I see myself as someone who works to make my methods more meaningful through research and is good at looking back on and learning from what I do to grow professionally. I hope to continue to further learning and research to make my teaching better for the benefit of my students.

Understanding Schools.

The contiguous identity of the artist/designer/teacher implies a relational standpoint. The research that I have undertaken through this module considers schools as social settings (social, class, gender, ethnicity, diversity, equality of treatment) and as sites for teaching, learning, and assessment. Through interrogation of my practice as an artist/designer teacher, I have explored and critically evaluated the potential of art and design practice to function as a transformative medium through which issues of equity, diversity, gender, and development education can be meaningfully interrogated. In my essay, which can be found down below, I have focused on the issues of Social Class and Religion, and how Art and Design can function as a transformative medium. To underpin my writing I have looked at two key principles from the "Looking at our School" document which are; "Inclusion for all students" and "Leadership role for all"
